Animal Assisted Therapy
Healing Reigns

Animal Assisted Therapy ArizonaAnimal Assisted Therapy (AAT) is a powerful tool that holds the key to opening relationships among family members, and has the ability to impact children and adolescents in a way no other therapy can. Compassion Christian Counseling offers both Equine Assisted Psychotherapy with our horse, Chance and also Dog Therapy with Buddy, our 4-year-old black lab.

Compassion Christian Counseling offers an Equine Assisted Psychotherapy programs through its Healing Reigns program. This is a new a growing field and Healing Reigns is one of only a handful offering this innovative new therapy in Arizona. The EAP treatment program uses horses as a tool for emotional growth and learning, creating a short-term collaborative approach among the participants. Learning is achieved during EAP when participants process feelings, behavior and patterns while learning about themselves and others.

Non-verbal communication, assertiveness, creative problem solving, leadership, work, taking responsibility, teamwork and relationships, confidence, and attitude are some examples of the tools utilized and developed by Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP.) By working with a large, powerful horse, participants are able to develop confidence and overcome fears, allowing them to take their new skills into intimidating and challenging situations in their own life.

Some specific benefits of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy:

Communication and teamwork skills
Development of healthy relationships
Problem solving and success over obstacles
Build confidence and self-esteem

Did you ever see an unhappy horse? Did you ever see a bird that has the blues? One reason why birds and horses are not unhappy is because they are not trying to impress other birds and horses.
